Riesling Renano

Cantina Michele Sartori

A reserve wine made from Riesling Renano grapes, handpicked from vineyards cultivated on the steep slopes descending toward Lake Caldonazzo and from the summit parcels of the Colle di Tenna.

The vineyard located at Fontanaze — a steep, terraced plot overlooking the lake — is composed of historic vines over fifty years old. The South/Southwest exposure, the altitude of 530 meters above sea level, the mineral-rich soil, the surface water springs that naturally nourish the vines (“Fontanaze”), and the lake breeze that keeps the grapes healthy all create exceptional conditions for growing this variety.

The vineyard located at the top of the Colle di Tenna, in the Pianari parcel at about 650 meters above sea level, enjoys full sun exposure, ensuring a rounded and complete ripening of the Riesling Renano grapes.

The wine is fermented almost entirely in stainless steel, except for a portion (about one fifth of the total volume) that is vinified in exhausted oak barriques. This process helps soften and round the wine — given its high acidity — while preserving the pure varietal characteristics of Riesling.

The wine then continues ageing in bottle for 24 months.

Straw yellow with green reflections. On the nose, the typical varietal characteristics of Riesling Renano emerge clearly, with petrol and hydrocarbon notes, fruit and citrus. On the palate, it is fresh, long, savoury, and mineral, with hints of crisp peach.
